Just thought I'd share two of my favorite quick-picks from the wedding Michelle and I photographed yesterday. It was a BEAUTIFUL October day for Jen and Andy to get married! Congratulations you two! Glad we were could share a piece of your day with you! :)

Kayley

I am so excited about these pictures! I had such an amazing time with Kayley last Friday, that I had to start processing the photos that night! It was great to see Kayley again after working with her sister Alyssa a few years back. I even had the opportunity to take some sibling and family photos with them. Kayley is not only very photogenic, she is such a sweet person to work with! She made my job SO easy! :-D Thanks Kayley for a great session and congratulations on graduating in the spring!

"Oh Canada..." | Vancouver 2011

Last year I had a truly wonderful time in Vancouver British Columbia while taking a photography field class through my university. So when I was asked to be on staff this year I jumped at the opportunity to go again! I just returned Monday from what was an amazing experience working with students, staff and faculty. I really enjoyed watching the students' work progress in just one week and loved sharing jokes and moments with everyone on the trip. Oh...and I did get some photos I am pretty excited about!

Blue Box Art | New Etsy Shop

Recently Lianne Bailey, Michelle Bose and I opened up our Etsy shop called Blue Box Art. I have been putting together some videos about the artists and started by working on Lianne's as she is going to be away working at a summer camp all summer long. Lianne is a terribly creative artist and I LOVED photographing and filming her for the video. Here is a sneak peek at some of the photos I took of her work. You can find the video in its entirety here.

Water Water Everywhere | Charity:Water Donation

Where does the time go?! I can't believe it's been almost a month and a half since "Senior Projects Day" when I presented my portfolio of images of water in its different forms. As you may recall, I had created calendars as well as framed prints of my work. Today I was very excited because I was able to take all the money I had collected from the sales of the calendars and donate it to Charity: Water. The total of the proceeds came to $250 which was $70 more than I was expecting originally. If you are interested in buying any of the framed pieces, you can check out our etsy Blue Box Art, which is an online shop that is selling these pieces. The proceeds of the sales of my water photographs will still be donated to Charity: Water!

Class of 2011

It's finals week! Yesterday afternoon, I sent the call out to some of the graduating seniors I know for a study break photo-session. Although I had much more in mind (think adventure out to some mustard fields) we ended up getting a few good shots outside of Marsh Hall. I totally love these and know I will look back at them and smile! Congrats Class of 2011!

Lianne

A while back my roommate Lianne asked me to take pictures of her with her saxophone. She has been playing in band for a long time and now that graduation is coming up she has to return her instrument to the school. So yesterday morning I woke up with a vision of how I wanted to photograph her: in the grass with her saxophone and the setting sun! I was very excited to share this idea with Lianne, who was a lot less excited about having to be out in public with a saxophone on the grass...needless to say, she tolerated my crazy "artist" idea and I LOVE the pictures (below) that came out of her patience with me! Thank you Lianne for being an amazing friend, roommate and model! ;)

Sarah

Today I had the joy of spending about two hours hanging out with the lovely Sarah. A freshmen at my university, she had never had the opportunity to get senior pictures when graduating from high school. So this morning we had a great time roaming the campus on a little photoshoot. Enjoy the photos below -- I think they capture her total cuteness! :)

Senior Thesis | The Portfolio

As I mentioned earlier, Wednesday was our big "Senior Projects" presentation day. All of the seniors at my university presented what they had spent the last year working on. For art majors, we presented on our work and had a gallery opening featuring all of our art work. My project consists of a series of portraits of water in its different forms and locations. I also designed a calendar and through this process explored photography as a temporary art form and fine art medium. All the proceeds from the sales of the calendar and prints are to be donated to Charity:Water, an organization that builds wells in developing nations and countries struck by disaster. If you are interested in seeing the entire project, you can find it online here.

School Picture Day

Remember that day that came every year when you were a kid? You had a hard time sleeping because you knew the next morning you'd get your school picture taken. You got to wear dress up clothes to school and your mom did you hair. All that anticipation. As you waited in line, you could see the big lights and when you heard the "POOF!" of the flash you knew you were getting close. And then, when it was finally your turn and you were standing there in front of the camera, they would pose you so uncomfortably that you looked like you were made of rulers and had just eaten paste. And "POOF!", somehow all that work and preparation you and your mom had put in would be instantly tarnished and result in another school picture that you refused to show your friends. Or at least, that was my experience...
That is not what we did yesterday afternoon. A gaggle of roommates and I got together and decided to take what will probably be our last "school pictures". Needless to say, it was a lot more fun than the elementary school days and I tend to think these pictures probably turned out better than "picture day" pictures usually do. (Did I mention, I once had a huge cut on my eye from being hit by a box the night before picture day?) So, without further ado, my lovely lovely roommies!!

Jennifer | Senior Pictures, Part II

Last fall, I had the opportunity to hang out with Jennifer and take some portraits of her. As a fellow art major who is graduating in just two weeks, we were somehow able to get our schedules to click and take a few more spring portraits in between classes last week. The weather held out for us and I was able to photograph her amongst all the pretty flowering trees! Congratulations to Jennifer for not only surviving Senior Projects day but also for graduating in May!

Senior Thesis: A Preview

The days are flying by as I prepare for Senior Projects Day, the day I present my senior thesis. I created a series of portraits of water, in its different forms and locations, as well as designed a calender incorporating these images. All the proceeds from the sales of the calendar and framed images in the Cawein Art Gallery will be donated to Charity: Water. The gallery show will be up April 27-May 21. Below is a preview of some of my work that will be on display.

"Where do you want to go?" | Digital Color | 8x8 | 2010.

Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked.

"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

The Lovely Laura

It's been a while since I posted but as my senior project begins to wrap up, I will try to update this blog more! Keep an eye open for some posts about my project. :)

Earlier this semester, Laura and I went out for a mini-photoshoot. Laura, a freshmen, was applying for a scholarship and needed a headshot to go along with her application. A big CONGRATS to Laura, because she ended up receiving the scholarship! Yay!
Below are a few of my favorites of Laura.

Snow + New Lens = Photoshoot!

Today I had a bit of time and a couple of great models for my Christmas present: a 50mm lens! :) The snow made a perfect background for our photoshoot and it was a great distraction from my packing to go back to school. Enjoy! And Happy New Year!
